Purpose
- To direct and control the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s information and communications strategy and systems to support the over arching business objectives. This involves the planning and implementation of an independent eCommerce business.
Responsibilities
• Developing and deploying strategy for independent eCommerce business, in addition supporting the existing internal business.
• Researching, acquiring and implementing web based enterprise solutions and information management systems.
• Developing and deploying strategy for the network and systems arm of the information technology and systems department.
• Contribute to the development of the company’s strategic and business plans, particularly in relation to information technology and communications systems, in support of the company’s core objectives.
• Develop an annual business plan and operating budget for the department and monitor the implementation of these to ensure that financial targets are met.
• Oversee all IT-related purchasing and budget usage; works with CEO and Finance to develop budgets.
• Negotiate service level agreements with service providers and monitor service delivery to ensure that agreed targets and standards are met.
• Negotiate contracts with external providers for services and products which cannot be provided internally and monitor service delivery to ensure that agreed targets and standards are met.
• Oversee the development and implementation of company-wide information and communications systems which provide all required support to company operations.
• Oversee the management of all data and information flows within the company to ensure that comprehensive and accurate management information is available as required.
• Provide a company-wide source of expertise on information technology and communications to ensure that managers and staff have the best possible information for effective decision making and accessing data.
• Direct and control the staff of the information technology and systems department to ensure that they are well motivated and receive all necessary training and development to enable them to carry out their responsibilities to the required standards.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive and effective help desk service to provide technical support to systems users, including the wider Bestseller network and including the eCommerce department.
• Establish and build relationships with vendors in conjunction with corporate leadership.
• Holds responsibility for capacity planning and scheduling vendor negotiations related to IT.
Core competencies required
• At least 5 years experience in the design, development and implementation of information technology and communications systems.
• Expertise in eCommerce business, with significant experience in acquiring and deploying eCommerce solutions.
• Leadership experience in network/computer system management, hardware selection and deployment, system troubleshooting and system maintenance
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer and telecommunication capabilities, operations, networking principles, protocols, and infrastructure.
• Expert understanding of IT & IS architecture, systems, applications and operating systems.
• Comprehensive experience of acquiring and implementing enterprise solutions and information management systems, both proprietary and open source.
• Significant management experience, including budgets formation and management.
• Exceptional communicator, at ease providing intricate oral and written instructions.
• Strong collaborative analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated effective staff and public relations skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and sound negotiation skills.
Qualifications
• Degree in information technology or computer sciences.
• MCSE or CCNA certifications desirable.
