Job description
The Linux OS Software Development organization is seeking first-line managers to lead software engineering teams responsible for design, development and test of Linux OS Software products. These are challenging and high growth opportunities for new initiatives, talent development and technical leadership growth. This team is an integral part of the STG Linux OS Software Development global team. In addition, Greater China is a major contributor for Linux OS Software Products revenue and new footprints in the growth markets and our technical team will support this continued strategy.
Responsibilities
Grow, coach and manage department of software engineers
Build a highly integrated, efficient and top performing team
Own and manage deliverables ensuring on time and with quality
Participate/lead in release planning activities
Develop innovation leadership in areas of expertise and ownership
Collaborate with global development peer managers and engineers
Lead Linux OS Software Development integration/synergy initiatives across IBM
Support Greater China S&D team to win in the marketplace and drive market requirements back into product
The candidate should have:
Ability to recruit, train, and motivate technical teams
Proven track record for delivering complex projects on time and with high quality
Experience in project managing complex development projects
We prefer candidates with:
Experience in people & personnel management
Knowledge of software development methodologies, L2/L3 customer support, Linux OS Software design and architecture, linux programming languages
Experience in client technical support
The position requires frequent interaction and timely communication with parties inside and outside the organization. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and a self-starter. The ability to motivate, grow, lead and drive change is essential to be successful.
